How should an individual looking to establish a home-based business using an affiliate program decide which affiliate program to focus on, you might be wondering. The important thing to remember when choosing an affiliate program is, know your target audience. Rather than making your chose based on the payment scheme, do so based on what type of people would be likely to purchase your product or products. For example, if you want to sell self-improvement software, links on your website to brainwave entrainment programs or hypnosis MP3s can earn more money than links to affiliate programs selling vitamins and minerals.

Another important thing to remember is that it is probably not a good idea to join every affiliate program on the Internet.
